Trojan Transportation Vehicle Maintenance offers routine maintenance and repair
of University owned vehicle and equipment. The services available are (but not limited
to):
Preventive Maintenance Inspections
A standardized inspection where vehicles are placed out-of-service based on standardized
criteria. Such criteria should not, under any circumstances, exceed the manufacturer's
recommendation for component condition, wear level or other tolerance for a particular
vehicle. The procedure for inspections will vary depending on the number of components
to be checked in accordance with local rules and regulations. Each inspection level
(i.e. A, B, C, 1, 2, 3, etc) will depend on vehicle year, make, model, mileage and
fuel consumption.
Lube, oil and filter replacement
LOF includes draining and refilling engine oil, replacing the engine oil filter
and lubricating the vehicle chassis. Inspection of the under hood fluid levels.
A visual inspection of belts and hoses.
Cooling system service
Charging, starter and battery inspection service and repair
After a complete visual inspection of the charging system, starter system and battery
services may include replacing the battery, replacing the alternator, replacing
the starter and/or wiring repair.
Tune-ups
Depending on the manufacturer criteria engine tune-up intervals may vary. A basic
tune-up may include replacing spark plugs, distributor cap, distributor rotor and
air filter.
Automotive computer diagnosis and repair
Brake services and repair
A standardized inspection condition and tolerances of brake lining, brake rotors,
brake drums, brake lines, brake hoses, brake calipers, brake cylinders, brake master
cylinder, brake fluid and abs components.
Depending on the results of an inspection, brake service may include: replacing
the brake lining, machining or replacing the rotors and/or drums, repair or replace
of brake lines and/or hoses, flushing the brakes system.
Tire service and repair
Depending on the results of an inspection service may include tire patch, tire plug,
tire inflation and/or tire rotation.
Transmission service
Includes draining the transmission fluid, replacing the transmission filter (if
equipped), adjusting bands (if applicable) and refilling the transmission with manufacturer
approved transmission fluid.
Heating and air conditioning service and repairs
After a complete visual inspection of heating and air conditioning system components
services may include evacuating and/or re-charging the system, replacing compressors,
hoses, fluids and/or components.
